    Description

    For sale,  a
VERY EARLY DATED "JAN 5 1887" BANK CHECK DOCUMENT ISSUED TO "S. W. WOOD" (i think that is what it says), AND SIGNED BY "E.B. GAGE" FOR THE "NEW YORK EXCHANGE (OFFICE OF E.B. GAGE)" IN HISTORIC MINING TOWN OF TOMBSTONE, ARIZONA TERRITORY.
NOTE HOW "BUSY" THE BACK OF THIS ANTIQUE CHECK IS, NOTE ALL THE SIGNATURES ON THIS CHECK.....GREAT PC OF TOMBSTONE HISTORY
This is a genuine historic pc from Tombstone....and it has survived since 1880's...its not perfect, has a spindle punch (typical) and a small missing area.....BUT IT IS GENUINE !!!! (was never meant to even survive for this long)
E.B. GAGE was a historic figure in old Tombstone, he was superintendent of the "Grand Central Mining Co" (note intertwined letters on check) he was prominent
    Tombstone
businessman, and mining promoter. In 1882 it is documented (year after the Gunfight at Ok Corral) Gage sent 00 to WYATT EARP and his posse to aid in a mining labor dispute where miners were threatening Gage......this is a great pc of Tombstone history
THIS IS A RARE OLD CHECK, ISSUED JUST A COUPLE YEARS AFTER THE FAMED "GUNFIGHT OF THE OK CORRAL" BACK IN 1881, INVOLVING WYATT EARP, DOC
HOLLIDAY, THE CLANTON GANG, ETC. (comes out of a small group of checks found years ago in Tombstone Arizona....each is different....watch for future listings)
THIS DATES TO WITHIN A FEW YEARS OF HISTORIC EVENTS IN THIS ICONIC WILD WEST TOWN...
I have a friend who has a saying EB Gage was "A hand that touched the hand".......he would have shaken hands many times with Wyatt Earp...they were contemporaries .
The historic mining camp of Tombstone is located in Cochise County...old paper from this town can be very tough to find
Old check document is off white paper, size is approx. 7 1/2" x 3", and it seems in nice shape, it has the typical punch marks in the center (as when cancelled they were put on a spindle back in day), but that is fairly typical, a little damage, but it survived, and is very readable pc of history (please see pictures in gallery)
Gallery pictures should tell you everything you need to know.
FIRST TIME ON EBAY AS "BUY IT NOW", OBVIOUSLY A UNIQUE PC OF TOMBSTONE ARIZONA TERRITORIAL HISTORY
This came out of a small collection of Tombstone A.T. documents, please watch for future listings (will be "hard sleeved" for transit)
THIS ONE A.T. MARKING ON REVERSE SIDE...
    Attractive old
    DATED 1887 BANK CHECK
    ..once issued by "
    OFFICE OF E.B. GAGE
    ", issued to the "
    S. W. WOOD
    " and signed by "
E.B. GAGE (AGAIN....HE KNEW WYATT EARP AND EVEN USED HIS GANG IN LABOR DISPUTE)
" in the iconic mining camp of
    TOMBSTONE, A.T. ARIZONA TERRITORY.
Thanks so much for looking....collect and invest in history!!!!!
